First, because it's more timely and topical right now, Ars Technica explains how easy it is to steal an election conducted using Diebold direct-recording electronix machines.

Second, because it never hurts to share it, a UK driver-awareness movie about looking out for motorcycles.  (If anyone can give me a quick pointer on how to embed an MPEG movie directly into a post, it'd be appreciated.  For some reason, I was unable to get it to embed.)

Embedding is a YouTube trick. I don't quite know how they do it, but the client-side scripting text is available from any YouTube video.

Oh, sure, I can grab any of a hundred code exampled to embed a YouTube flash-video player. I don't want to do that. (Apart from anything else, it means I'd have to upload it to YouTube... not that that'd be such a bad idea in this case.) I want to embed the MPEG video directly and let it be handled by whatever MPEG player plugin the user has installed.

Doh! I've just realized the reason I couldn't get it to (apparently) embed is almost certainly because I don't have a PLUG-IN that plays MPEG.
