.... I have just listed my CBR929RR for sale on Craigslist.  Not that I wouldn't rather keep it; but right now, we need the money more.  I'm hoping to get enough out of it that we can justify spending some of the proceeds on an older bike; there's a local dealer who has a white 1993 VFR750F that would make a nice replacement for the customized red '91 destroyed under me on Splat Day.  (Whether I'll be able to afford to make the same set of modifications to it right now is ... debatable.  If the Force eBay is with me, it might be possible.)

I don't think Alaric had much of a choice about whether he was going to get back on the bike or not. It was a foregone conclusion, in my mind anyhow, that he would. I'm not sure if it says that I am the stubborn fool or if he is the determined one.

I was determined I was going to both walk and ride again. Running is still going to need more work.

Did you talk to Dr. Kaufman about wanting to run? It might have an impact on your orthotic. And to Dr. Lynn? Not that I think he would do anything different during surgery on the 18th.

You started walking the weekend you were home from the hospital. Makes me determined that we get an in ground hot tub sometime in the next three years. We'll write it off as a medical expense as you did much better when you had access to one.

Riding took about a year. Running was ... I was still pregnant with Pirate so over one year and under two years. Bicycling took 6 years but I think that was mostly because we didn't make any effort to get you a bicycle.

I guess you had so much success in the beginning that when it started getting difficult to make the last few improvements and some backsliding happened, it felt like it was never going to get good enough and it is hard to remember just how worse it was in the beginning compared to now.

Almost dead to destroyed knees to crutches to walker to cane to walking to sometimes needing a cane. It's quite a progression and it isn't complete yet because I'm betting the cane will get put back in the corner again.

I still can't really run yet, not with a normal gait that I can keep up for more than a few hundred yards at most. It's something between a rapid shamble and a breakneck lurch, and it's extremely hard on my knees and foot.
