Yes, today was surgery day.  I just got back.  The procedure was performed under a local, unsurprisingly, which meant I could see everything the podiatrist was doing, and we discussed details of medical instruments, anatomy and the procedure as he worked.  It all went smoothly, a significant chunk of bone and a fair bit of fibrotic scar tissue came out, and I now have a much straighter and less deformed little toe on my left foot.  I'm also non-weight-bearing on that foot until next week; back onto my specially-modified crutches.  (I padded the handgrips with neoprene foam and gel inserts to avoid RSI in my hands because I was spending so much time on them.)

Everything went well, with no complications evident at this time and (so far) no post-op pain; I have a new prescription for Vicodin in case, but I don't expect to need much of it if any.  The 30 tablets will likely last me 18 months to two years; I only take the stuff when I REALLY need it.  Standard post-op instructions:  keep it clean, dry and elevated, and drink lots of fluids.

Good to hear! Maybe the weather will still be nice in 2 weeks and you can come by and go for a ride! ;)

Rest well, and I hope it heals properly. It's nice to have a good-looking toe, isn't it? A year after my bunion surgery, I find my feet still seem to be getting a bit more slender.

Good-looking is almost the least of my concerns. I want it to stop being so painful. The post-op pain, without taking painkillers, is already less than the routine pain I was almost constantly getting from that toe pre-op, let alone how much it hurt after I'd had a shoe on for 20 minutes or so..

Form follows function. If it works well, it tends to look good.
