This is a Powershot 5700 forward-action staple gun. I just relegated it to the scrap pile.
Why?
Well, it's a very good idea. This rethinking of the underlying design of the staple gun puts your hand pressure where the staples are driven, resulting in a more controllable stapler that drives staples deeper and better with less effort.
...When it works, that is. And there's the problem. Because this thing is the worst, most unreliable piece of crap you'll ever use. I'm on my second one right now; it's a warranty replacement for the first. The first one MIGHT have lasted a hundred staples before it stopped driving them. The second didn't last fifty before it not only stopped driving staples, but jammed. Reviews I've since found online tell the same story: it's great while it works, but it almost certainly won't make it through the first box of staples.
[sigh] Back to the old bog-standard-but-bulletproof Arrow T-55...
