unixronin: Sun Ultrasparc III CPU (Ultrasparc III)

babylon5's new monitor arrived today.  AccelX didn't have a .vda file for a 1920x1200 LCD panel, but it only took me about fifteen minutes to write one.  And then ... oh, wow.  Bright, clear, sharp!  And it wakes up from suspend instantly.  I really hadn't fully realized quite how bad my 90D10 had become, even before it started needing multiple powercycles per day to keep it readable (and usually two or three powercycles each time it woke up from suspend).  Being only about 4" thick, I can move the new monitor a good foot further back on my desk, and the visual size of the text is still bigger than it was on the 90D10.  As well as increased comfort, I've just reclaimed a whole chunk of desk space.  Not that I have a much lighter (24lb vs. 120) and more compact monitor, I'll be able to construct a much smaller-footprint monitor stand and recover still more desktop space.  (I could recover still more by using the built-in speakers, but I have no intention of doing so.  I'm told they're pretty minimal, which is probably to be expected.)

At the moment, I'm suffering from a bit of a slight optical illusion — the 90D10 is vertically flat, but quite convex horizontally, and I'm so accustomed to it that by contrast the face of the new LCD actually looks slightly concave.  I expect this effect to fade in a couple of days.
