I just had an odd little mental image of a scene in a somewhat darkly humorous novel, wherein a cabinet meeting in the fictional (and rather dysfunctional) nation of the setting is interrupted by the sound of gunfire. Moments later, heavily armed revolutionaries burst into the room. They empty several magazines of ammunition into the Vice-President, at point-blank range, then turn to the President and the rest of the cabinet, and politely apologize for disturbing the meeting.
"For the sake of [insert country name here], we couldn't take the chance that this bumbling imbecile might someday become President," they explain. "Please, continue. We're leaving now."
