Yeah, I know, they're doing it for promotional purposes. But what the hell? Think of it as a game that nets you free loot. suzilem pointed me at Stootsi's "Red Friday Giveaway". Capsule summary: Go to the site and set up an account (you do NOT have to fill out the CC information), click Buy Now on the giveaway page, and they'll send you a random item from their warehouse. They freely declare up front it may be crap. But you never know. What's more, for each person you refer this weekend, or each person who signs up using your referral link (that's my referral link above) or your referral userid, they'll send you another free item. (Which may also be crap.)
So where's the game come in? Well, when all is said and done, we'll all have a big pile of free random loot, and we can have a massive trade-off, compare notes to see who got the most useless piece of junk, or just potlatch it all around until everyone has something they want.
(Or not. "Oh no!!!! Not the talking USB desktop gnome again! FLEEE!!!!!")
It's sort of like the basement of Warehouse 23 ... only in real life. "You open a box on the fourth floor of Warehouse 23, and find...."
