Researchers at the University of Kansas are embarking on an NIH-funded project to develop a male contraceptive pill.  Rather than being hormone-based, the plan is to chemically block the action of several fertility-critical enzymes.  About half a million compounds will be tested in the project, wehich has a declared goal of 100% effectiveness with no risky side effects.

Yes, as reported by [livejournal.com profile] mazianni, it's been resurrected from the dead (for the right price, I'm sure).  The MPAA is trying to get it slipped into a Senate appropriations bill as an amendment, but the EFF has a campaign to stop them.  Go ping your Senator -- the broadcast flag is bad news for everyone except the TV studios.

After all, you don't want to be told you can't skip commercials, right...?  Right.  Remember, this is backed by people who think that not watching a commercial should be a crime.

Edit/Footnote:  The EFF page above will tell you if your Senator is a member of the Appropriations Committee, and automatically forward your comments to your correct Senator.

Turns out the reason I couldn't find hide nor hair of the missing bag of screws and clips for the Digital racks that I've spent the past two days looking for, is because I somehow -- Chaos only knows how -- left'em sitting on the middle of the livingroom floor in the trailer.  I coulda SWORN I put those into a box that went on the truck.

OK, guess I get to improvise with the racks until Jasa can mail the screws and clips to me.  Doh!
