First, the kids broke the [refurbished, replacement] power floor head on the vacuum cleaner for the second time, in the same way that the first head broke. (The first time the replacement broke, I was able to repair it by cannibalizing a part from the original head.) Then a couple of days ago we tried to use our carpet/upholstery steam vac after Wen smeared something (I don't remember what) all over the padded top of the toychest, only to discover that it was leaking like a sieve and dumping all its cleaning solution into a puddle on the floor underneath it. And now the food processor's drive shaft has fractured in such a way that, well, you can put the bowl and blade ON, and run the processor, you just can't get either of them off again without taking the food processor apart so that you can pin the motor in place so that you can get the blade unlocked from the shaft.
What next? The microwave, maybe? Or one of the coffeemakers? Maybe the refrigerator will croak. That'd be really fun. Or the air conditioner, which barely copes in the first place. Or my monitor, which seems to have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.
Oh yeah, and we had to take the back off of cymrullewes's office chair this afternoon, after I looked at it and realized that the chair's baseplate (which the back bolts to) was bent out of shape and cracking dangerously, such that the back could possibly break completely off without warning. So now it's a stool. A stool that sinks when the whim crosses its mind because its gas cylinder doesn't have enough pressure left any more.
And of course, I seem to be falling apart piece by piece myself too....
