I just had to clean out my toe again, during the course of which process I discovered that the original, "old" abscess, which we thought at one point had almost completely healed, goes about a quarter inch into my toe in one direction and about a half-inch in another. (Yeah, it's sort of V-shaped, as far as I can tell.) At least I can certify that there's no pus or, hopefully, any active infectious material in it right this minute.
Word to the wise: If you can avoid it, don't ever syringe 99% surgical isopropyl alcohol into an open wound. It stings like a bastard.
