Don't you just hate it when that happens?
Justice just caught up with Rep. Bill Janklow, R-SD. He has been found guilty of all charges for killing 55-year-old motorcyclist Randolph Scott when Janklow blew a rural stop sign at 70+mph on August 16 this year. The court found him guilty of second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign, and speeding, carrying a total penalty of up to eleven years, two months in jail and up to $11,400 in fines.
South Dakota driver records show that Rep. Janklow received 12 speeding tickets in a 4-year period from 1990-1994, and has been involved in 8 accidents (counting the August 16 accident) since 1990, in three of which (including the latest) he claimed to have taken evasive action to avoid a vehicle which no other involved driver or witness saw. It is also reported that his speeding tickets stopped in 1994 only because from 1995-2002, during his third term as governor of South Dakota, South Dakota state police were ordered not to stop or cite him for speed violations.
Guess what, Bill. You're not above the law this time. You're not weaselling out of this one.
