...but I have my Linux desktop back, and DDJ, and Grip, and sirc, and all my preferred tools. Now I'm trying to kick the atrophied parts of my brain back into life to remember how I had everything set up. (Yes, it's true -- prolonged Windows use rots your brain.) I technically have logjam back, but it won't post ... it seems it's hardcoded to point at a posting URL that no longer exists, and I don't know what to change it to. Since there's no newer revision than v4.4.0, which is over a year old, on danga.com I infer logjam is no longer being maintained, so I may be stuck with Semagic. Still, I've mostly gotten used to it and learned most of its foibles and gotchas by now, so I can live with it ... but it means that I have to do all my posting from vorlon instead of babylon5.
Organization progress: The washer and dryer work (did I already mention that?), though the washer has a minor water leak that we're trying to track down, and I had to extend the washer's grey-water hose by thirty inches by grafting in three feet of one-inch copper pipe (well, OK, I technically could have used 7/8" rubber hose, but the copper pipe is way cooler), and replace the three-pin dryer outlet with a four-pin one to be able to plug the dryer in. We have all of our infrastructure servers, plus two of the UPSen (the SU1400, working, and the SU3000, currently not working for as-yet unknown reasons) racked in the corner of the living room in one of the two Digital racks; the other is sitting next to the kitchen, slated to get shelves put into it so we can use it temporarily to augment our kitchen's pitifully inadequate storage space. My desk and cymrullewes' are assembled, though were going to take the extension off hers and stow it below. Among desktops, only vorlon and babylon5 are currently up, but we hope to get llioness and mabolgamp up after we rearrange
cymrullewes' desk this weekend. The circuit powering the computers is critically short on capacity -- there's seven outlet or lighting-and-outlets circuits in this place, and five of them have only 15A breakers instead of 20A. I'm going to have to do something about that; there's no reason for it -- it's 20A wiring with 15A breakers.
All the interior painting is done except for the trim, which may wait a little while, and exterior painting isn't our problem. Just about all the maintenance and repairs are done, except for replacing the kitchen sink's garbage disposal, which is totally shot (it's so rusted inside, it's a wonder it even spins). The living room curtain, despite having been laundered, still smells of cigarettes, but we have carte blanche from our landlady to throw it out and replace it with something -- anything -- that we like. Right now we're focusing on figuring out how best to organize the furniture we have room to deploy, and deciding which subset of furniture that is. It's certain that one table and one set of dining chairs are going to stay stowed below; they will be joined by one or more of the new (rescued, very nice) computer desk (which will otherwise most likely become Goose's), the coffee table, the square end table (which currently has the rescued cat tree atop it), and/or the futon couch, but we don't know for sure which ones yet. Hopefully we'll get that figured out this weekend.
